Enabling positive change through equine massage.
Background |
Equines of all shapes and sizes are my passion. As a kid growing up in rural Alaska, I was unable to have horses, so I spent as much time as I could devouring any book I could find on horses and studying the conformation of my Breyers. After moving to the Lower 48, I got my first horse in high school, a weanling breeding stock Paint filly. My equine journey continued through college, with lessons in English equitation and Western-style riding.
Since then, I’ve continued my equine education by volunteering at local associations, taking riding lessons, and attending clinics and expos in a variety of disciplines. In October 2015, I completed a certification program in Foundation Massage at the Northwest School of Animal Massage. Equine massage has opened up a new dimension, and provides a means to give back to the amazing animals who provide us with so much knowledge and fulfillment. Working with lesson program and rehabilitation horses showed me the resiliency of the equines we work with, and the harm that we can do when we don’t consider their needs. As your equine massage practitioner, my #1 goal is to be an ongoing partner in your horse’s well-being and health |
Testimonials |
"Amanda has been helping my horses for a couple of years. Her therapy has been great for both healing and for giving my horses a gift of a spa day. Two of my horses have been dealing with major physical issues, DSLD and a broken neck. Her expertise in the field, understanding of the equine body, and her sensitivity is exactly what my horses need. She has worked well with my vet to coordinate her therapy approach with my vet's recommendations. She is an ongoing partner for me with my horses' well-being and health." -Lynne A.
"Amanda demonstrates sensitivity and compassion when working with horses and is able to meet all horses where they are at. I have learned a great deal from her during clinics and private sessions on body work and body taping. I look forward to learning even more from here and whole-heartedly endorse her services." -Sharon H. "Love Amanda. She is such an intuitive soul, and really strives to work with your horse to make their needs met -- whether it's soreness or just nurturing -- highly recommend!" -Melissa B. "[My trainer] and I noticed a difference in [my horse] today - he felt better today which we both attribute to the massage. he was more relaxed and it was easier to keep him straight." -Kate J. "Amanda is so quiet and intuitive with horses and people alike. I highly recommend her for equine body work!" -Stacie B. "Amanda is amazing! She is very patient and calm and the horses really like her a lot! The horses get to choose their essential oils themselves! It's cool to have her show and let them smell and decide what they like that day! Sometimes it's different on different days. She spends enough time with each horse to get them very relaxed and comfortable! My horse Isabella has been very difficult to trim her back feet for almost 5 years. I have never been able to figure out what is going on. After three sessions with Amanda, Isabella had her best trim ever last week! Very impressed! Amanda is such a compassionate and wonderful person!" -Teresa W. "Amanda has been massaging my horses since last year and has introduced me to a new dimension in communicating with horses through touch. She has a sixth sense about the horse's individual needs and I can always see a positive change in them when she finishes. Her love for the horse and for her work is evident. Wave and I thank you Amanda." -Cathy M. "Amanda is a gifted masseuse with a healing touch. She has improved my show and pleasure horses in their body comfort, gaits, and suppleness. I love her attention to detail and dedication to the craft. Horse by Northwest is an essential part of my herd's well-being!" -Erin M. "Amanda is an incredible equine practitioner. She has many tools in her tool belt and my horse has had some huge breakthroughs because of her work. Bali [shows] lots of improvements, especially in canter transitions." -Katie B. "I noticed a big difference with the way [my mare] moved!! I think the biggest change was in the rear. She felt freer and more willing to work off her hind end. Not everyone can connect with [Dulce] like [Amanda] did. Thank you for understanding her and being on our team!" -Marty H. |
